Members donate suitable prizes for the Manor’s Bingo program, which are delivered there once a month. In addition, we gather small items to make up gift bags for members at Christmas time. In 2015, about 24 bags were prepared.
Troy and Canton Elementary Schools
During Advent, parish members bring in clothing items like underwear, socks, and sweat pants that can be used by younger children in case of accidents. These are distributed by the school nurses to those who need them.
Throughout the year Labels for Education are collected for this organization, founded by an Episcopal priest, that ministers to abused, abandoned, and neglected children in Nevada and Texas regardless of race or faith.
St. Paul’s has annual ingatherings of funds for these organizations which support relief efforts around the world.
As additional opportunities for service are presented to us, we do what we can to meet the needs of others. In 2015 we had the opportunity to give assistance to two young men traveling across the country on foot. The first was heading from California to New York City in the summer. He had been traveling for two years on this pilgrimage. The second was heading westward to Alaska as winter was beginning. With help from others, he was provided with two nights shelter and a bus ticket from Elmira to Seattle. He phoned to announce that he had safely arrived there.
